Lockdown Birds! (Lockdown Project no.1)

Kia Ora! So as you all know, it is now the lockdown. That does stop us from meeting friends in real life. But it doesn't stop us from having fun. Recently it has been my birthday, and I got a birdfeeder set. It was good that I got it because in the Lockdown all the birds go crazy, because humans go out less. We have had two little wax-eyes, coming to the feeders at least four or three times every day. We have named them Mr and Mrs Waxie. They seem to be mates, so no surprise there. We heard from a friend they come in large groups, so maybe there are more of them in our frontyard tree. We can tell them apart, because one is rather plump, (or just has very fluffy feathers) and one has a longer beak. They love to feed on fat and lard, and are mostly seen scavenging for food in winter. Here is a photo of our feeders:
Whats a project you are doing in lockdown? We have three, and I shall explain them in other posts. Blog you later, Aoibheann! 😋

The Chase! (Maths Week)

Salut! That means 'hi there' in French. I could say bonjour, but yeah. So this week we did The Chase, but in the Maths style. The Chase is a TV show, and it's like about heaps of questions. There is this person called ' The Chaser', and they NEVER get the questions wrong. So we did this in our math books, and we added up points. I was away on monday, so I got 116 points! On our 'The Chase Sheets', we have pictures of ladders. We colour in where we are, and where The Chaser is. If we get to the end, we win. If the chaser catches us, we lose. We do a warm up, then a head-to-head. If you get 8 questions right in the warm up, you write that in the middle of the ladder, but if you want more points, you can times it by ten, and write it just above the middle. So I would get 80 points. But, it makes you closer to The Chaser. If you want to get closer to to end, then you write it just below the middle. But then, you would get only 0.8 points. So if you need a picture, to make it more understandable, then heres a photo of mine.

Wings of Fire! (Free writing).

Kia Orana! I love dragons and that makes me obsessed with a book series going by the name of 'Wings of Fire'. It includes different tribes, contents, and even different living styles! In Pyrrhia (the more popular continent), they have seven tribes. There are Mudwings, Sandwings, Skywings, Seawings (Seawings are my personal fave), Icewings, Rainwings, and Nightwings. Here is some nightwing history: They could once read minds, and foretell the furture, but no longer! The books were written by Tui T. Sutherland. If you want more information, then go search it up (IN YOUR FREE TIME). So we got to do free writing (a subject I love), and I wanted to make a fanmade story. So here it is I guess!
(ZOOM IN TO READ) What are some sentences I could improve? (By the way it's not done). Blog you later, Aoibheann.

Wairaka legend retell!☺️

Hi guys, so for school we had to do a Wairaka legend retell. If you do not know who she is, she is the daughter of Toroa, the cheif of the Ngati Awa tribe. Our school was named after her, for her bravery had been so strong when saving the woman, and children when on their waka. Wairaka does something very amazing! Read on to see! So here is my retell. Its for Oral Language. How brave do you think Wairaka was? Im picky but I do give her a 9/10! Blog you later, Aoibheann.

Writing, writing, writing!!

I love writing!! Here is some writing I have done. Hope you enjoy!! . The evening sun drifted across St Paul's street, yet the wind glided across the clouds. The sun shone against the shiny, salty emerald-green ocean, like a bird flying along a very grassy set. Bakeries, and other shops were still open.. The ground started to rumble. Cars swerved, twisted, and turned. At this time i was in Francesca's cafe, a local bakery, and tea shop down our street. People in Francesca’s (My personal nickname for the place) started to scream, and surprisingly someone stopped screaming to drink the rest of their herbal tea (Supposedly mint?). “Earthquake!” people announced across the street. It was a mess. Out from the beautiful sea, romed a huge island! It had trees already on it.... ‘What is going on?!’ I thought to myself, although shouts nearly blocked out the very thought. Despite no one but me had seen the sight of the island. Something was very fishy (Other words for off, suspicious, and wrong). The island got taller, and taller, until something splashed out of the water, gulping up half of it in its wake. A large brown-red mountain poked up too, and then.. “A HEAD!!” people screamed in agony. They were right. A head with a long, large, red-brown nose dappled with yellow snot cascaded across the waterfront. “Hmmm,” I thought. Then ding! It popped up in my head. It was a troll! I was so pleased with my ‘miraculous’ discovery, that I didn't even realize that he (Preferably a he) was only half way down the street already. ‘Maybe I should evacuate the building,’ I was right in time. The troll had recently marched over to see what was in the house next to Francesca's. His big ears flopped in the sunlight. He looked relaxed. He wore a greenish-brown suit, and it nearly matched hid body. The large rope that was slung on the side of his jacket swayed as he waddled along the road. . . thats IT!!!!

In the garden

Hi!! This is my In the garden!!“It's a sunny day outside,” My mum said. I look at the beautiful garden, as I open the sliding door. It creaks open, as I step out, and feel the soft, long grass sliding between my toes. I close my eyes, and I feel the grass swaying side to side, tickling my feet. I open my eyes, and walk forward, and I see a big purple cornflower, and a bright yellow calendula. I sit down to look at the Luna moth that just landed on the cornflower. It Stretches its big, grass green wings, and swiftly flies through the air. I start to hear the humming of bees coming closer, but I stay where I am to watch them. They land on the calendula, and start to collect the sunset yellow pollen. I look around, hear the pitter patter of rain on my roof. It gets louder, but I realize that the sun is out. I remember how rainbows come out at these times. I look up, and see faded colours cascading through the sky, like a very colorful bird flying over the garden. I look down again, the bees are gone. No butterflies either. But, I think to myself, it’s okay, because those peas will grow. There it is!! I hope you enjoyed. Blog you later!!

Aoibheann's Holiday!

In the holidays, I went to Waihi for a family reuion. I was super excited! When we got there I said hi to everyone, and went to look for my cousins Belle, Jute, and Lotte. They are all sibling, Lotte is the eldest, while Belle trails after. Jute is the youngest. When I found them they were on the tramp with my cousin Meg. Shes about 13. They were playing dogeball. We went to sleep in huts on a bunk bed, and had wars. We were awake till 1 in the morning. The parents did not approve of this! The next day we went to the beach. I was excited, but scared. Later on we (Me and Belle) were already in the water, and playing! Suddenly my dad jumped in and pulled us out. Once we were on the sand I noticed that no one was in the water! The lifegaurd was telling my parents and auties that there were sharks in the water! I started to chicken out. My cousin (Belle) told me thats she had seen a baby shark fin, about two metres away from us! Lots of things happend in that trip but that was by far the scariest thing!Just wanted to tell you! Blog you later! -Aoibheann
